I was a little bit surprised when I saw one of the brochures that I got from Jewish Kosher Festival last week, I found a picture of mother and child worship from different religions all over the world. The picture is above.Those paintings are in the Franciscan Museum, in Nazareth, Israel. Unfortunately there are many images, idols and paintings with paganism influence are polluted in the Holy Land. Those are influenced from Catholic denomination.
This time I would like to discuss about mother and child worship. Even though they're from different beliefs and religions, indeed they're related to each other and from the same source. It is come from Babylon Religion and the center is Lucifer.
Why, I'm saying that? Let's talk more about this.
Mother and son worship is a perfect example of how Babylonian paganism has continued to our day. As you will see in almost every religion there is a mother and child. It all leads back to the mother goddess of Babylon, as I mentioned in this site, after the death of Nimrod, his adulterous wife gave birth to a child who she claims was supernaturally conceived. She taught that Tammuz-the son was a God child; that he was Nimrod, reborn and that her and her child were divine. Thus establishing MOTHER AND CHILD WORSHIP.  Numerous monuments of Babylon shows the Goddess mother Semiramis with her child Tammuz in her arms.(picture to the right) Remember at the time when they built the tower of Babel God changed their languages and they were scattered throughout the earth. God did not change there mind set just their languages, they took with them the worship of the divine mother and god-child with them. This explains why all nations, in one way or another worshipped a divine mother and god child. Among the Chinese, the Mother Goddess was called Shingmoo or the "Holy mother." She is pictured with child in her arms and reys of glory around her head. The ancient Germans worshipped the Virgin "Hertha" with child in arms. The scandinavians called her "Disa" who was also pictured with a child. The Etruscans called her "Nutria" and among the Druids, the "Virgo-Paritura" was worshipped as the "Mother of God."  In India, she was known as Indrani (left), who was also represented with a child in her arms. The Babylonian Mother was known as Aphodite or Ceres to the Greeks; Nana, to the Sumerians; and as Venus or Fortuna to the pagans in Rome, and her child was known as Jupiter. For ages, Isi, the "Great Goddess" and her child Iswara, have been worshipped in India where great temples were erected for their worship. In Asia, the Mother was known as Cybele and the child as Deoius.
The Bible mentions this Mother-Goddess worship when the children of Israel fell into apostasy. Judges 2:13, "They forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth." They turned their backs on the true God of heaven to worship Ashtaroth or Ashtoreth which was also called "the queen of heaven." You can read in Jeremiah 44:17-19. Jeremiah is rebuking them for worshipping her, but they rebelled against his warning and thus brought sudden destruction from the true God.  In Ephesus, the Great Mother was known as Diana(left)the Goddess of Virginity and Motherhood. She was said to represent the generative powers of nature and so was pictured with many breasts. A tower shaped crown, a symbol of the Tower of Babel. The temple that was dedicated to her in Ephesus is one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world! She was not only worshipped in Ephesus and throughout Asia, but the world (Acts 19:27).
In Egypt, the Babylonian Mother was known as Isis and her child as Horus. It is common to see this kind of monument in Egypt of Horus seated on his mother (as seen in the accompanying statue to the right). The worship of Mother and Child was also discovered in England in 1747, a religious monument was found at Oxford, of pagan origin, on which it exhibited a female nursing an infant. "Thus we see,"says the historian, "that the virgin and child were worshipped in pagan times from China to Britain.......and even to Mexico. As you can see this false worship has spread from Babylon to the various nations, in different names and forms, and finally became established at Rome and throughout the Roman Empire. In The Golden Bough, Vol. 1, p. 356. speaking of this time "The worship of the Great Mother... was very popular under the Rome Empire. Inscriptions prove that the two (Mother and Child) received divine honors...not only in Italy and especially at Rome, but also in the provinces, particularly in Africa, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, and Bulgaria.It was at this period that Jesus founded the New Testament Church. By the third and fourth centuries, how ever, what was known as the "church" greatly departed from the original faith, falling into that great apostasy that was prophesied by the apostles. When this "falling away" came, much paganism was mixed with Christanity. Unconverted pagans were taken into the professing church and in numerous instance were allowed to continue many of their pagan rite and customs-usually with a few reservation or changes to make these pagan beliefs appear more similar to christian doctrine. One example of a compromise to pagans was this Mother and son worship.
Little by little the worship and pagan doctrines were being applied to Mary and Jesus.It is evident that this Mary worship was not the worship of Mary at all, but a continuation of pagan rituals. For while Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a fine, dedicated, and godly woman-especially chosen to bear the body of our saviour-yet never was considered as a DIVINE person or a goddess by the early true church. There is no evidence in the Bible or by the Apostles or even Jesus him self ever hinted at the idea of Mary worship.
ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA states:"during the first centuries of the church, no emphasis was pleased upon Mary whatsoever. it was not until the time of Constantine- the early part of the fourth century-that anyone began to look to Mary as a goddess. But even at this period, such worship was frowned upon by the church, as it is evident by the words of the Epiphanius who denounced certain woman of Thrace, Arabia, and elsewhere, for worshipping Mary as an actual goddess and offerings cakes at her shrine.Yet, within just a few more years, Mary worship was not only considered by what is known today as the Catholic Church, but it became one of her main doctrines-as it is today."Further proof that Mary worship is of pagan decent, may be seen in her TITLES that are ascribed to her. For example, Mary is often called "THE MADONNA." This title has nothing to do with Mary, the mother of Jesus! It is a title in which the Babylonian Goddess was know! In deified form, Nimrod came to be known as Baal. The title of his wife, the female divinity, would be the equivalent of Baalti. In English, this word means "My Lady";in Latin, "Mea Domina", and in Italian, it is corrupted into the well known "Madonna"! Among the Phoenicians, the Mother Goddess was known as "The Lady of the Sea" this title was also given to Mary- though there is no connection between Mary and the sea whatsoever! The scriptures is clear that there is only ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, our saviour Jesus Christ(1 Tim.2:5. Yet Roman Catholicism teaches that Mary is also a "mediator." So how is it that Mary came to be looked upon as a mediator? You see. the Mother Goddess of Babylon bore as one of her names, "Mylitta", that is, "The Mediatrix." another title that was borrowed is "The Queen of Heaven." This title came from a pagan Mother Goddess that was worshipped centuries before Mary was ever born. As we read in Jeremiah 7:18-20: "The children gather woo, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the woman knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven." And in connection, it is interesting to note that right down to modern times at Paphos, Cyprus, the women made offerings to the Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven, in the ruins of the ancient Temples of Astarte. Another pagan Mother Goddess in Egypt was Isis and her son Horus. Now one of the title that Isis was known and later given to Mary was "The Mother of God" it was applied to Mary by the Theologians of Alexandria. Again they attempted to make Christianity appear similar to the pagan Mother-Goddess woship. Now we know that Mary was the mother of Jesus, but only in the sense of his human nature, his humanity. The Catholic title and the original meaning of the title, however, went beyond this. The worship of Isis was not only limited to Egypt. It was introduced into Rome about 80 B.C. when Sulla founded Anan Isiac College there. And to show the extent of compromise and pagan mixture in Rome, we only need to mention the fact that Isis was worshipped in a shrine that "stood on the Vatican Hill where now stands St. Peters, the center of church which worshippes the "Mother of God" in just the same capacity!
Such titles plainly show that the SUPPOSED worship of Mary today is in all reality the continuation of Goddess worship of pagan times. But there is further proof of this that can be seen in the way Mary came to be represented in the art the fallen church:
 As you can see there are circles behind their heads. A circle in Chaldea was Zero, and also signified "the seed." Zero evidently comes from the Chaldee, zer, "to encompass," from which, also, no doubt, was derived from the Babylonian name for a great cycle of time, called a "saros." (Bunsen vol. i. pp. 711, 712.) The Chaldeans regarded him as the great "Seed," he was looked upon as the sun incarnate. A circle was a symbol of the sun. You can also find it in the pictures of Jesus, but having something extra added to it, it's a mystic symbol used by the Chaldeans and Egyptians-the true original form of the letter T-the initial of the name of Tammuz. An interesting note is that the Tau was marked in baptism on the forehead of those initiated into the Myste ries, the Catholic Church also marks this Tau symbol on the people on ash Wednesday, nowhere in the Bible does it say to do such a pagan act. On Chaldean coins you will find the Tau (1). Way before the crucifixion. Etrurian and Coptic (2)(3). To identify Tammuz with the sun it was joined together with the circle (4) and inserted in the circle (5) as seen behind Jesus (right). Place your pointer on the picture of Jesus and the mothers above. It was so strongly written in the paganism mind the image of the Mother Goddess with a child in her arms, that when the days of of the great falling away came, the portrait of Isis and the child Horus was accepted not only in popular opinion, but by formal episcopal sanction, as the portrait of the Virgin and son. Representations of Isis and her child were often enclosed in framework of flowers. This practice too was applied to Mary who is often pictured the same way, as those who have studied Medieval Art well known. The Egyptian goddess Isis was often represented as standing on the crescent moon with twelve s tars surrounding her head. There is another woman mentioned with twelve stars in the Bible, but its not Mary. But it was also adopted to Mary. This adoption was to satisfy the superstitions of the heathen mind. And even as the pagans had statues of Goddess, so likewise, statues were made of Mary, even though the scriptures forbid such a practice! In some cases, the very same statues had been worshipped as Isis, were simply renamed as Mary and the Christ child- and the old worship continued! "When Christianity triumphed", says one writer, "these painting and figures became those of the Madonna and child without any break in continuity: No archaeologist, in fact, can now tell whether some of these objects represent the one or the other." Not only has this deceived them but it is deceiving and uniting the world.

The oft-recurring yet totally unfounded charge against Catholic devotion to Mary is that it is a “carry-over” from paganism. Anti-Catholics are quick to point out that the “Mary” honored by Catholics is not the “biblical Mary” but a pagan goddess propped-up by “idolatrous” Catholics as “Mary.”
This bizarre allegation worthy of a Dan Brown flies in the face of reality, history and plain common sense. To carry this false accusation to its logical extreme would prove counter-productive to the cause of Christianity. In this essay, we shall demonstrate the utter bankruptcy of this anti-Catholic (and anti-Marian) posturing.
A certain “Leonil” who called this blog in the Bereans forum as full of “unholy crap” [see my reply below] is not stating an original idea. He merely passes on second-hand information from such anti-Catholic writers as Alexander Hislop, author of the much discredited The Two Babylons. Another writer who asserts that Catholic Mariology is an offshoot of paganism is Victor Buksbazen. The Christian Research Institute (CRI) cites Buksbazen in The Mary of Catholicism –
"When Christianity spread throughout the Roman empire … Mary replaced the old goddesses … [S]hrines dedicated to Mary began to replace the ancient temples … Although the tree of paganism was cut down, its roots remained … and helped transform Miriam of the Gospel into Mary of popular piety – later into Mariological dogma" [quoted in Elliot Miller, The Mary of Catholicism, Christian Research Journal (Summer 1990) Part 2, 32].
Thus, anti-Catholics conclude that pagan goddesses became the Mary of Catholicism. This allegation is merely assumptio non probata (assuming without proving). No shred of evidence has ever been presented to prove the charge. The most that has been done by anti-Catholics is to “trace” Catholic Mariolgy and Marian devotion to pagan goddess cults by pointing to external similarities (but forgetting the overwhelming disparities). This mode of argumentation, sadly, is the fallacy of genetic error.
Well, it is very easy to make accusations – but these do not make sense unless they are proven. For instance, I can accuse Rev. Anthony Pezzotta a pederast, but that would mean nothing if I cannot prove it. I would be guilty of calumniating an otherwise innocent person. So, anti-Catholics who accuse us of so many things without proving them are culpable of libel, to say the least. So, brazen accusations remain as they are: accusations. The Bible commands us: “You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with the wicked to act as a malicious witness” (Exodus 23:1, NRSV).
Thus, that Leonil who posted (in the Bereans forum) the regurgitated tale that the “mother and child” concept of paganism crept into the Catholic teachings on Mary is simply guilty of violating God’s commandment in Exodus 23:1. No proof acceptable to the reasonable mind has been presented to prove the untenable canard that the pagan goddesses became the Mary of Catholicism.
The sweeping and utterly baseless allegation of Hislop, Buksbazen, the Christian Research Institute and now of Leonil is met with formidable objection from no less than Karl Barth, an established Protestant theologian.
Barth, a level-headed thinker and respected Protestant dogmatician, considered the notion that Mariology originated from pagan sources to be totally unfounded. He says –
"It is not to be recommended that we should base our repudiation on the assertion that there has taken place here an irruption from the heathen sphere, an adoption of the idea current in many non-Christian religions, of a more or less central and original female or mother deity. In dogmatics, you can establish everything and nothing from parallels from the history of religions" [Karl Barth, Church Dogmatics (Edinurgh: T & T Clark, 1936-1960) 1:143].
Another Protestant theologian, John de Satgé, supported Barth and writes –
"It is not necessary to accept … the evil conjunction of Christian piety with the primeval mother-goddess” [John de Satgé, Down to Earth, The New Protestant Vision of the Virgin Mary (Consortium, 1976) 80].
While the attacks of anti-Catholics on Catholic devotion to Mary have no leg to stand on, I understand where they are coming from. They note certain “similarities” between pagan goddess cults and the Blessed Virgin Mary. There were goddesses that were considered as virgins (i.e., Athena) or mothers (i.e. Gaia). However, apart from a few externals and accidents, the heathen goddesses have nothing in common with Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Goddess cults have no discernible nexus with Catholic Marian devotion. Pagan goddesses and their adherents were characterized with debauchery and immorality. None of these can be said of Mary or Marian devotion. Ours are certainly good, wholesome and beautiful.
To assume that early Christians who suffered persecution for their Christian faith were actually crypto-pagans is simply absurd. To espouse the idea that our forefathers continued to worship their loathsome goddesses in the guise of Mary is unfair and uncharitable to the early Christians. That would be to assume that they were necessarily more stupid than the Christians of today. That is simply unacceptable – an unwarranted desecration of the memory of our martyrs.
As converts from paganism, early Christians renounced and despised the darkness, superstition and evil practices of their former faith. It is certain that they would never have carried pagan practices over into their new life in Our Lord Jesus Christ. I find it unthinkable that the martyrs who would rather die than offer incense to the image of Caesar would gladly worship Isis, Ishtar or Aphrodite in the guise of Mary. That just doesn’t make sense to me.
Catholics can tell the difference between Gaia on one hand and Mary on the other. Early Christians could tell the difference much more vividly than we can.
I own a copy of The Book of the Goddess Past and Present edited by Carl Olson [Carl Olson, ed. (New York: Crossroad Publishing Co., 1994)]. I have read this book many times over and I must state that I am appalled and scandalized by the revolting character of these pagan goddesses. They are so totally unlike Mary. To link the Mother of Jesus to these pagan goddesses in any way is to dishonor Mary (and Jesus Himself whose mother she is!).
Early Christians who lived through the centuries of persecution had Marian devotion. In the catacomb of St. Priscilla in Rome, persecuted Christians left us a graphic representation of their devotion to Mary. The catacomb of St. Priscilla derives its name from the saint who was martyred under Domitian in the year 95 A.D. In this catacomb, there is a fresco of which is probably the earliest surviving representation depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary as seated and as clasping the Christ Child to her bosom, while a young man stand before her pointing to a star overhead. The great Catholic archaeologist De Rossi assigns the date of this fresco to the reigns of Trajan or Hadrian, or at the very least to the period of Antoninus. Trajan reigned from A.D. 98 to 117, Hadrian from 117 to 138, and Antoninus from 136 to 161. When we recollect that the aged apostle St. John is believed to have survived the fierce persecution of Domitian and to have lived on into the reign of Trajan, we realize that the Christians who painted this fresco could very well have been his contemporaries [Denis O’Shea, Mary and Joseph – Their Lives and Times (Milwaukee: Bruce Publishing, 1949) 87].
Since, as we have seen, Marian devotion existed in the Church even during the horrendous period of persecutions by the pagan Roman Empire, we are certain that devotion to Mary did not originate with pagan goddess cults. As stated, Christians who lived through their own conversion experience and despised paganism to the core would never adopt its practices.
I humbly appeal to our Protestant and Evangelical friends and brothers (like Lionil) to soberly reconsider their erroneous view that the Marian devotion of Catholics is a carry-over from paganism. They should not use the “comparative religion” argument; otherwise they will directly hit Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Indeed, if Mary is just the last in the series of pagan goddesses, then what about Jesus, her Son? Atheists level similar arguments against Jesus Christ claiming that the Christian belief in his redemptive death and resurrection is derived from pagan mythology. (Liberal Protestants like Bultmann takes a similar approach by distinguishing the “Christ of History” from the “Christ of Faith” through a method of “demythologizing”). Rationalists explain that the risen Lord is only the latest in the long line of fertility gods who died, were buried and then rose again. This myth of a “dying god” (Osiris, Dionysus, Adonis, etc.) is used by enemies of the faith to attack Our Lord and discredit Christianity. Thus, those who postulate that Marian devotion is “pagan” are actually using the argument used by infidels. This argument is not only anti-Catholic – it is truly anti-Christian!

Referring to your opening sentence: How on earth does a name like 'Yeshua' sound as 'Iesous' when a Greek person ‘sounds’ Yeshua in his language. Does 'Yeshua' sound like I'esous'? The answer is a big @NO@!! Does 'Iesous' (ee sass) not sound like 'Issa'?...Of course it DOES! This proves that there is absolutely NO continuity between the sound 'Yeshua ' into Greek sounding 'Iesous'!! This proves that the Greek ‘Iesous’ was sounded from ‘Issa’. They rhyme perfectly. Try Rhyming Yeshua and Iesous!
And now the name 'Yeshua' . Well you can put that name to one side, because Jesus was not Hebrew! Since the name 'Yeshua' is Hebrew, it means Jesus has nothing to do with this name because he was ARAMAIC, and not Hebrew! Which also means that everything Jesus taught was in Aramaic and his Book was called the 'Ingeel'. Jesus was Born a Jew
Jesus is a real, historical person, born in the Land of Israel, during the Roman occupation, in approximately the year 3 BCE. However, at the time His name was actually pronounced, "Yeshua," and that is the name used in this article.
That Yeshua was born Jewish is one of the least contested truths of the Bible. The very first verse of the New Covenant reads: The book of the genealogy of Messiah Yeshua ("Jesus Christ"), the son of David, the son of Abraham (Matt. 1:1). Who were Abraham and David?
Abraham was the first Hebrew. God changed his name from Abram (Gen. 17:5). In Gen. 14:13 he is called Abram the Hebrew. So we can see that Yeshua (Jesus) is descended from "Abram the Hebrew." Even to this day, Jews are also called "Hebrews", and the language of the Jews is "Hebrew."
Abraham and his descendants were given the unconditional covenant of the Promised Land (Gen. 17:8) and the covenant of circumcision (Gen. 17:10). Abraham is the father of the Jews (Acts 3:12-25). Isaac was his son and Jacob was his grandson (Matt. 1:2). Thus, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are known as the Patriarchs, the fathers of the Jews.
Jacob's name was changed by God to "Israel" (Gen. 35:10-12) and he had twelve sons (Gen. 35:23-26) from whom come the Twelve Tribes of Israel. All of their descendants are known collectively throughout the Bible as the Children of Israel (Ex. 1:6-7).
One of those twelve sons was Judah (Gen. 35:23, Matt. 1:2) and it is from his name that we get the word 'Jew'. Although Yehudah (Judah) was only one of the twelve, by 700 BCE, because of the course of Israel's history, the word Yehudee (Jew) came to mean any person descended from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Jer. 34:9). So, for instance, Saul haShaliach (the Apostle Paul) was of the tribe of Benjamin (Romans 11:1) yet he self-identified as a Jew (Acts 22:3).
Nevertheless, according to the Bible, the Messiah must be descended from the tribe of Judah (Gen. 49:10) as King David was (1Sam. 17:12, 1Ch. 28:4) and descended from King David himself (2Sam. 7:12-13, Isa. 9:6-7, Jer. 23:5-6). That is why the Messiah is called Son of David (Matt. 21:9).
Yeshua (Jesus) is from the Tribe of Judah (Heb. 7:14). His earthly father was descended from David (Matt. 1:6-16) and His mother was as well (Luke 1:27, 32-34, 3:23-31).
In addition, Yeshua was born King of the Jews (Matt. 2:2). The King of the Jews must Himself be Jewish (Deut. 17:15). His aunt Elizabeth was Jewish (a descendant of Aaron, Moses' brother) and His uncle Zacharia was a Jewish priest (Luke 1:5, 36). Yeshua was circumcised according to Jewish law (Luke 2:21, Lev. 12:2-3), and redeemed according to Jewish law (Luke 2:22-23, Num. 18:15). His mother atoned according to Jewish law (Luke 2:24, Lev. 12:6-8). He is called The Consolation of Israel (Luke 2:25) and The Glory of Thy People Israel (Luke 2:32). Jesus was born a Jew.
Jesus lived as a Jew
Although He was born in Bethlehem (Matt. 2:1, Micah 5:2), Yeshua was raised in Nazareth (Luke 2:39-40). Both were Jewish towns at the time, according to archeologists and historians. Bethlehem is just south of Jerusalem while Nazareth is north, in the Galilee section. Both of Yeshua's parents were from Nazareth (Luke 1:26-27, 2:4, 39) and they returned there with the Child when they had done everything according to the Law of the Lord that His birth required (Luke 2:39). His aunt and uncle were also Torah observant Jews (Luke 1:6) so we can see that probably the whole family took their faith very seriously.
Yeshua's parents made the 140 mile (225 m.) round trip to Jerusalem every Passover (Luke 2:41) in observance of Deut. 16:16. It was at the age of twelve that Yeshua stayed behind an extra three days to learn from the Temple teachers (Luke 2:46). Although He already understood the Torah well (Luke 2:47), His attitude of listening and questioning indicates love of the Hebrew scripture and respect for the teachers. He also respected the Temple itself, calling it His Father's (Luke 2:49). Near the end of His life, He praised a widow for giving all she had to the Temple (Luke 21:1-4).
In adult life, His disciples were Jews (John 1:47, Matt. 20:25-26) and they called Him 'Rabbi' (John 4:31). Mary called Him 'Rabboni' (John 20:16). They sought Him because they believed the Torah and the Prophets (John 1:45).
A Pharisee who had not yet come to faith in Him also addressed Yeshua as 'Rabbi' (John 3:2), as did a crowd of people (John 6:25). A Samaritan woman easily recognized He was a Jew (John 4:9).
Yeshua's disciples spoke Hebrew (John 1:38, 41) and so did He, as well as Chaldean, a closely-related language brought back by the Jews from their captivity in Babylon (Matt. 27:46). In the sermon on the mount He affirmed the authority of the Torah and the Prophets (Matt. 5:17) even in the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt. 5:19-20). He regularly attended synagogue (Luke 4:16) and His teaching was respected by the other congregants (Luke 4:15). He taught in the Jewish Temple (Luke 21:37) and if He were not a Jew, His going into that part of the Temple would not have been allowed (Acts 21:28-30).
Although He differed with some of His contemporaries on how to keep the commandments (Matt. 12:12), He did not disagree on whether to keep them, saying such things as,"if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments," (Matt. 19:17). When He healed someone of leprosy, he instructed him to,"show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded..." (Matt. 8:4, Lev. 14).
Yeshua not only taught others how to live a Jewish life, He lived it Himself. The outward signs of this were such things as wearing tzitzit (tassles) on His clothing (Luke 8:43, Matt. 14:36, Strong's # 2899) to serve as a reminder of the commandments (Num. 15:37-39). He observed Passover (John 2:13) and went up to Jerusalem (Deut. 16:16). He observed Succot (John 7:2, 10) and went up to Jerusalem (John 7:14). He also observed Hanukah (John 10:22) and probably Rosh haShanah (John 5:1), going up to Jerusalem on both those occasions as well, even though it isn't commanded in the Torah.
The inward sign of His Judaism was a circumcised heart (Deut. 10:16, 30:6).
When faced with temptation, Yeshua answered from the Hebrew Scripture (Matt. 4:2-10, Deut. 8:3, 6:16, 6:13). When teaching, He taught from the Hebrew Scripture (Matt. 22:42-45). When admonishing, He quoted from the Hebrew Scripture (Mk. 7:6-13).
Yeshua self-identified as a Jew (John 4:22) and as King of the Jews (Mk. 15:2). From His birth to His last Passover seder (Luke 22:14-15), Jesus lived as a Jew.
Jesus died a Jew
When Yeshua was taken prisoner by a Roman captain, his cohort, and some Jewish officials (John 18:12), He was delivered into the custody of the Jewish priests, elders, and scribes (Mk. 14:53). The Roman soldiers would not have placed Him under Jewish jurisdiction if He were not Jewish.
Later, Yeshua was brought before the Sanhedrin, the Jewish council (Luke 22:66). He was charged with an offense against Jewish Law (Matt. 26:65-66, Lev. 24:13-14, John 19:7). Pilate, head of the Roman occupation, also recognized Jewish jurisdiction over Yeshua (John 18:31). This was because Yeshua was a Jew (John 18:35).
He unequivocally identified Himself as the Messiah (Mk. 14:61-62) and as we have seen above, the Messiah must be Jewish. He said He is the King of the Jews (Matt. 27:11) and, as we have also seen above, the King of the Jews must Himself be Jewish. The Jewish crowd also called Him 'King of the Jews' (Mk. 15:12). He was mocked, spat on and beaten by the Roman soldiers as 'King of the Jews' (Mk. 15:16-20) and when they crucified Him, their charge was 'King of the Jews' (Matt. 27:37).
The place of judgment had a Hebrew place-name (John 19:13) and the place of crucifixion had a Hebrew place-name (Mk. 15:22).
Joseph of Arimethea, who took custody of Yeshua's body, was Jewish (Luke 23:50-52) and he laid the body in his own new tomb (Matt. 27:59-60). Therefore, Yeshua was buried in a Jewish cemetery. He was also buried according to Jewish custom of the time (John 19:40). Without doubt, Jesus died a Jew.
Jesus was resurrected a Jew
Yeshua the risen Jew told his Jewish disciples to go out and teach all the Gentiles (Matt. 28:19, Strong's # 1484).
Then, after eating, talking and walking with His disciples, Yeshua, "lifted up His hands and blessed them" (Luke 24:50). What blessing is spoken with lifted hands? The Aaronic Benediction (Num. 6:24-26) is given in Synagogues and in Churches even to our day, and in the Synagogues it is still given as it was more than a thousand years before the resurrected Jew Jesus gave it: with lifted hands. Rav Sha'ul (the apostle Paul) tells us that while he was on the road to Damascus Yeshua spoke to him from heaven in Hebrew (Acts 26:14). Sha'ul, a Jew who was born a Roman citizen (Acts 22:27-28), was fluent in Greek (Acts 21:37) and possibly many other languages, but Yeshua spoke to him in Hebrew, the language of the Jews.
Sha'ul did not become a believer until well after Yeshua's death and resurrection, yet an important part of his message is that Yeshua is a descendant of the Jewish king David (2Tim. 2:8).
Many years after His resurrection, Yeshua testified that He is the root and offspring of king David (Rev. 22:16), and in a time yet future, two of His titles will be Lion of the tribe of Judah, and Root of David (Rev. 5:5).
In Matt. 24:20 He told us to pray concerning the coming tribulation, that we would not have to flee on the Sabbath. And in Matt. 26:27-29 Yeshua told the disciples that He will celebrate the Passover seder anew with us in His Father's kingdom.
The standard He will use at the judgement is the Law God gave the Jews. To those who do not do the will of God, He will say, "Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness" (Matt. 7:22-23, Strong's # 458, 459).
In (Heb. 13:8) we are told Yeshua the Messiah is the same yesterday, today and forever. So, if He ever was a Jew He was resurrected a Jew, and He is one to this day.
He was born a Jew, He lived a Jew, He died a Jew, and He was resurrected a Jew. He is alive and Jewish now, and forevermore the same.
